Two grams in the planting hole
Microdosing puts 2 to 6 grams of fertiliser beside the seed. Soil moisture decides when it works.
A full bag of fertiliser broadcast across a field is a large bet for a smallholder. Microdosing places 2 to 6 grams in the planting hole with the seed instead.
In trials in Ghana’s humid forest zone, microdose rates such as N20P40K20 raised maize yields by 32 to 99%.
Timing matters. The soil has to be wet enough to dissolve the fertiliser but not so wet that it washes below the roots. That is a reading our sensors take every day.
