When the soil is ready, 2 to 6 grams in the planting hole instead of a whole bag broadcast.

Sensor readings tell the farmer when the soil is moist enough for a small dose of fertiliser to dissolve and stay at the roots.

A smaller, well-timed dose lowers the money at risk in a dry year while still lifting yields.
